10 Social Media Marketing Tips and Tricks for 2017
Sometimes keeping up with the latest social media changes can be hard, and at times we all need a little help to keep up with the changes to keep our social media marketing strategy up to date and fresh. Are you in need of some social media marketing help? Well look no further, here are some tips and tricks for your social media marketing strategy.

Use Images to Amplify Your Updates on Social Media.

Your fans/viewers want to see engaging content and if your posts on social media are not getting many likes, shares or comments, then one your wasting your time but there is one change you can make… When uploading content to your social media add an engaging, relevant graphic or image to add interest to the post. Sometimes just a simple graphic will have more of an impact compared to a load of text all at once, fans/viewers want to see a variety and adding graphics or images into the text will help. Plus, graphics and images tell a story more than text does as you can add a personal touch to the graphic or image before posting it to make the business seem more human to the fans/viewers.

Go Deep, Not Broad.

What I mean by this is choose two maybe three social media channels to focus on and stick to them, don’t then broaden your horizons and choose other channels. By focusing on two or three it enables you to make sure the information you are giving to your fans/viewers are relevant and interesting to them, rather than just uploading a post because your busy on other channels. Social media platforms are like soapboxes, they allow you to establish your expertise and credibility, but they provide a way your fans/viewers can interact with you by allowing them to give you feedback and start discussions. So, just focusing on a few of them, will give you a better chance of building that credibility and establishing trust within your fans/viewers.

Choose Your Image Wisely.

You want to come across right to your fans/viewers, don’t you? Well then you need to pick the right image for your business. It has been said that your image is worth a thousand words, so it’s important you put a lot of thought into the image you portray in your social media marketing strategy. There is a second way this is defined, which is the physical images you use for social media posts, you want to ensure you are using the right graphics for your posts, otherwise one fans/viewers will not relate to the post and it will also make the information irrelevant because the graphic doesn’t relate to the text. You want to take your time in choosing the right graphics for your posts, so for example if you are uploading a blog to your social media you want to ensure the graphic that is shown for the post relates to the blog and will grab your fans/viewers interest.

Schedule Posts for The Days Ahead.

Start scheduling posts for the days ahead, especially over the weekend if you are a business that runs Monday to Friday. By doing this you are constantly interacting with your fans/viewers, this will also keep their interest in what your future posts are going to be because you are active on your social media channels. Not only this but many fans/viewers and other potential fans/viewers will be on their social media more often over a weekend as they do not have a much to do work wise, therefore you want to ensure your business is getting seen when most people are more active on social media.

Use Analysis Tools to Analyse How Well Your Social Media Marketing Strategy is Going.

It is important to know how well your posts are doing on social media especially for your marketing strategy, as if you don’t analyse the success rate of the posts you will not know where to improve. For example, on Facebook you can analyse your posts by clicking on the insight button on Facebook for your page, this gives you a breakdown of your average post reach, how many people have engaged with your posts, etc. So be sure you analyse all your social media posts on all channels, even if this means adding an analysis tool to do so, as without it you won’t know where to improve on the next time round you post something.

Use URL Shorteners.

You should use URL shorteners because sometimes the URL’s you put in your social media posts are too long, which can put some people off clicking through to the page you are linking too. By using URL shorteners such as; Google URL Shortener it will enable you to shorten the URL down so that it’s easier to see on a post and people are more likely to click onto it.

Post Consistently.

By this we mean you should go onto your social media channels and be sure you are posting content regularly. You don’t want to just post something every now and then, you want to consistently be engaging with your fans/viewers, and the only way you can do this is to post content a few times a day as it keeps people engaged and interested. However, if your business has Snapchat and Instagram pages because they are not as fast moving as Twitter and Facebook therefore you don’t need to post as often on those. But that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t have a routine posting schedule for all your social media channels, as without a routine posting schedule for your marketing strategy you will not be posting to your fans/viewers consistently, which will end up in you losing their interest.

Interact with Your Fans/Viewers.

Don’t just let your fans/viewers communicate to nobody, if they show a genuine interest and decided to post a comment and interact with you be sure to interact back. This shows that you care about what your fans/viewers are thinking and are always taking into consideration their opinions and comments. It shows that your business is real and behind closed doors are humans that keep the business running, who care about the feedback they get from their posts.

Keep an Eye on Your Competitors.

Have you started to notice that a certain competitor is killing it with their social media content? Well, that may mean their social media marketing strategy is different to yours. So, if you were to keep an eye on them to see what they are coming up with for their content, you could potentially adapt your marketing strategy to include a few adapted versions of their posts to boost your interaction on the social media channels. You should always be aware of what your competitors are doing on social media, as you want to make sure you’re not missing out on anything that could potentially boost your business’s response.

Give People a Reason to Follow You.

So, you may have a good number of fans/viewers that are already following your page, however it’s important to continue to increase that number of followers. You may be asking yourself why? Well it is important to increase the number of followers you have because it shows that more and more people are interested in what you are posting, which is ultimately good for business! Therefore, you need to think in the perspective of the consumer, they will have hundreds, if not thousands, of choices of businesses and people to follow, so somehow you need to stand out. This means creating social media content that you know they will be interested in and that will catch their attention, by doing this it entices them into choosing to follow you, over someone else. Considering all these tips and tricks will enable you to create the best social media marketing strategy for your business. They are also tips and tricks to help you throughout the process of your strategy, and can easily be adapted if needed later on in the process.
